1. Using common detergent to clean Travertine

There are many tiny holes on Travertine surface, so daily care is very important. We often have a habit of using common detergent, or vinegar, lemon ... to clean Travertine. Immediate result may not be seen but in the long run, it will reduce the longevity and the gloss of Travertine.

The simplest way to clean the Travertine surface is using a soft cloth and clean water. If stains appear on the stone surface, we should use products for Travertine stone care like Neugel or Algafloor

2. Travertine has not been well sealed with suitable products

With many tiny holes inside, Travertine need to be sealed with suitable impregnators. If not, absorption may occur and create the deep yellow stains in the stone which is very difficult to remove. Therefore, make sure that Travertine is well sealed with suitable products like Hidro SST, Hidro Protector MM, Protex, Pro TW Lux before installation. In addition, re-sealing should be done every 6 months or every year, depending on the applied items.

3. Travertine often exposed to sand, dust

A carpet should be laid in entrance to Travertine floor to prevent dirt and sand from accumulating deeply in tiny holes. Further more, dust and sand on shoes’ soles can scratch the surface and decrease the gloss. In this case, polishing process should be done with A3 Yellow – a wet polishing powder for Travertine. This process must be repeated every 6 months or every year to keep the beauty and durability of Travertine.
