Reasons and issues related to impregnation of natural stone were discussed in Natural stone sealing . Which kind of impregnators should be used? It depends on each kind of natural stone as well as the applications. Vinastone would like to introduce two product lines of impregnators: water based impregnator and solvent based impregnator.

Water and solvent, both substances work as a “transporter”. They transport the protective resins contained within the product into the surface pores so to form a protective barrier.

Water based products have less penetrating properties, therefore they are less effective immediately. They deposit themselves more in the surface pores

Water based products can be used in damp and humid surfaces. They have advantage of the ecological aspect, low odour and safe, easy application methods

Vinastone currently offers three water based products, Including Hidro 500 (for items frequently in contact with food and drink), Hidro Protector MM (for items that are frequently exposed to food, drink or impregnation prior to application) and Hidro SST (for 6 side impregnation prior to application).

Meanwhile, solvent based impregnators offer deeper penetration, therefore they help resist effectively in time. A solvent based treatment will be more reliable compared to a water based treatment. In addition, solvent based products help to resist to most staining substances. Vinastone currently offer two lines of solvent based products:

1) Water based products: Protex, Pro TW Lux
2) Water based products with color: MA 90, P147, P211/BK
