How to use and care for a kitchen island tabletop made of Granite?

Kitchen island tabletops made of Granite are more and more popular in modern kitchens. Proper use and taking good care of a Granite kitchen island tabletop will keep its beauty and increase its longevity. Followings are some of Vinastone’s suggestions.

1.     Spills

Always clean up spills immediately on a Granite kitchen island tabletop, especially acidic substances like coffee, wine, tomato sauce and fruit juices. Although these materials will not scratch or etch Granite, if left unwiped they could potentially stain the surface.

Always use a soft cloth for wiping up spills, and then clean the stone with products created for stone care like Neugel , Algafloor. Do not use other kind of product because repeated use has a tendency to dull the stone surface.

If stains caused by tea, coffee, pens, juice… then No Mac Gel should be used. If stains caused by acidic substances that make the surface fading and shine loosing, you should contact professional services suppliers for proper treatment.

2.     For the kitchen island often exposed to water

For the kitchen island with sink, the first important thing to do is to ensure that kitchen island tabletop are sealed with appropriate products such as Hidro Protector MM, Pro TW Lux produced by Faber (Italy). 3.     For the kitchen island used as a cooking place

We often have a habit of placing hot pots directly on the granite surface. Immediate result may not be seen but in the long run, it will reduce the longevity of Granite. So soft pads should be used to protect the granite surface from high temperature.

Besides, please note that always use a cutting board because cutting directly on the stone will scratch its surface and take its shine away.
